Mold can be found all throughout the world. It looks like velvet and grows in moist, humid, unventilated areas. Once the conditions for growth are just right it will grow and spread rapidly. It can then be spread through the air so that it can start growing in the other areas of your home too. This can be anywhere since mold is able to grow on almost any type of surface. Whenever the mold is airborne it is a health hazard to mammals, such as humans, because it can become lodged in your respiratory tract. It can also enter your body through cuts, thus causing problems with your immune system.
Chlorine Bleach Removes Mold
Chlorine bleach is actually a very effective way in which to remove mold stains. This is because it oxidizes the mold, which effectively kills the mold. However, this only works on the surface of mold. So, in order to completely kill the mold you will need to use a deep penetrating biocide. If you only have chlorine available, you will have to use it several times in order for it to be effective.
Removing Mold Stains
Unless the mold is completely removed it will continue to cause damage and discoloration. The best ways in which to completely remove mold is to remove the moisture in the air and the sunlight to the effected area.
Removing Mold Stains From Your Bathroom
You can use a chlorine bleach solution to remove mold from your bathroom. Simply dip a sponge into this solution and then apply it to the affected area. After a few minutes, lightly scrub the area before immediately rinsing it off.
Removing Mold Stains From Your Floor
Mold can damage wooden floors since it isn’t immediately noticeable. Nevertheless, you cannot allow it to go untreated for a long time or your floor will become discolored. So, whenever mold has been on a wooden floor for quite some time, you will want to take the following steps:
Completely dry and air out the area for a while.
Use a small piece of metal (8”x4” by 1/16” thick) to scratch the affected area
Use a piece of finish removal sand paper (180 grit) to remove any stubborn stains.
Polish the area with 200 or 250 grit paper.
If you catch the mold early enough you can also use a chlorine-based solution to treat it. Don’t allow it to set though. Instead, make sure that you wipe it off immediately. Then you can refinish the spot with something that matches the original.
