Eureka replaced the base but say it has been to long and want over 25 dollars for a new handle. It is just not a good design and I will throw the thing away and replace it with something better. I don't know how Good house keeping could have endorsed it. I was fooled but will tell anyone that they don't make a product that is worth it.
