Based on user experiences the Hoover SteamVac is an effective upright steam cleaner and with extenstion tools you can easily clean stained hard-to-reach carpets. The Hoover f5914-900 model also leaves carpets less wet than other models which mean cleaner carpets sooner. It is moderately priced at only $150 (Amazon), which could be cheaper than renting a carpet cleaner
The only problems found with this carpet cleaner are that it is heavy, and uses plasitc which can be broken easily.
