If I buy an expensive vacuum, do I get better quality?

August 19, 2009

I hear this one a lot: “if you buy an expensive vacuum cleaner do I get better build quality?” No. You’ll get a bigger motor, more cleaning tools and attachments, cleaning features, but it won’t necessarily make the machine’s quality better. Yet, there are exceptions to this rule.

So this statement does not hold, If I spend more money on a vacuum cleaner, I will get a better vacuum.  Manufacturers tend to use the same motor or plastic housing for similar vacuum models, so the only things that can change are features which consumers desire.

If you want a better vacuum cleaner, you need to choose a quality manufacturer. Look at Dyson Vacuum Cleaners, they provide great value that continue exceed consumers expectations and make it on our Best Vacuum Cleaners list.

But to provide an example why buying an expensive machine is a characteristic of a high quality machine, look at Kirby G4, it sells for roughly $1200 via door-to-door salesmen. Yet it only receives a 4 star rating based on a few user reviews.  If money was sign of quality then it should get 6 out of 5 stars, because the Sebo Felix gets a 4 1/2 stars and is only $500.

There is definitely opportunities to pick up great vacuum cleaners on any budget. You just need to peruse the reviews. Thats why our site is so valuable, we have done the analysis and research for you. You just pick the vacuum that is most align with your needs.

Conclusion

Buying a vacuum cleaner is a pretty simple task, you just need to forget things that have helped you buy other things you use.

Don’t buy a vacuum on its looks. Who cares if a vacuum is trendy or stylish, just buy because it has great performance and can get the job done.

Don’t be loyal to one brand. Just because your found of Hoover vacuums, which your whole family has bought, don’t buy them without researching their quality.
