What to consider when buying a Vacuum Cleaner

Buying a vacuum isn’t a clear cut decision like buying a microwave or toaster, each individual and person has different needs for the vacuum and therefore requires a different type of vacuum cleaner. You would not expect a janitor who vacuums 5 floors of office space to buy the same vacuum as a single parent living in a one bedroom apartment.
When you buy a vacuum cleaner you need to know what you want to do, whether it is the occasional vacuuming, or are you a clean-freak and need to vacuum weekly. Do you have carpet, hardwood floors, or a mixture of carpet and hardwood? Do you have pets, animals, and children?
Vacuum Cleaners all have the same basic parts, but each varies considerably. The first thing to notice is that your roller brush is the heart of any vacuum cleaner. It is the one spinning and picking up the unwanted things on your floor. Having a metal, roller brush with many fine-brushes is ideal. Next, do you want either a bagged-vacuum, or a none-bagged vacuum like the Dyson? Each has their advantages, first bag less is going to be cheaper on your wallet, since you won’t have to buy a new bag every month. But being bag less means that it doesn’t trap the dirt as well as bags do (vacuum cleaner bags also filters the air at the same time). Next bag less might be messy, since you have to open the vacuum and come in contact with the dirt and filth.
Next you have to consider the price of the vacuum cleaner. Do not get persuaded to buy a vacuum cleaner by flashy commercials with an Italian designer (Dyson), or being able to lift the vacuum with one finger (Oreck). Most people who know the vacuum cleaner industry will tell you these vacuums were made especially designed to appeal to buyers. You want to know that for the price the vacuum will suck up anything on your floors, and for a fair price. Most people don’t require top of the line vacuums, so pick a vacuum cleaner in your budget and for the things you need it for.
